So-Called PDF Terrorist Group Threatens Teachers Enrolling Students, Aiming to Disrupt Education Sector in Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region

     Terrorist groups are committing inhumane acts with the intent to disrupt the education system, which is dedicated to improving and advancing children’s learning. These acts include the destruction of school textbooks and stationery, the intimidation and abduction of education staff and students, targeted killings and the planting of explosive devices to destroy educational buildings.
     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 26 May 2025 at 4:30 PM, a report stated that a so-called PDF terrorist group had intimidated teachers from the Sub-Basic Education High School in Sin Thar Mhway Village, Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region. Upon further investigation, security personnel discovered that the incident had occurred on 23 May 2025, at around 10:00 AM, while the headmaster U Win Min Tun, five teachers and an office assistant seven individuals in total were conducting student enrollment activities. At the time being, eight armed members of the so-called PDF terrorist group arrived school by three motorcycles, brandishing weapons. They threatened the staff, demanded an immediate halt for student registration and school operations and ordered the teachers to join the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and resign from their positions. The headmaster was forced to vacate the school premises immediately. After issuing their threats, the group fled the scene, it is reported.
     It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.
