So-called PDF terrorists attacked the security personnel, based in Thalaebar Village of Ayardaw Township, using superior force and threw a grenade at the "Inn Kyaung" monastery as they retreated, resulting in the death of the Abbot and injuries to a novice and a factotum of the monastery from bomb shrapnel

       On the evening of 21 October, so-called PDF terrorists attacked the security personnel, based in Thalaebar Village of Ayardaw Township in Sagaing Region, using superior force and threw a grenade at the "Inn Kyaung" monastery as they retreated, resulting in the death of the Abbot and injuries to a novice and a factotum of the monastery from bomb shrapnel, it is reported.
       The incident happened that, on 21 October at 04:30 PM, approximately 400 so-called PDF terrorists attacked the security personnel, performing security measures in Thalaebar Village of Ayardaw Township. They utilized superior force, employing heavy weapons, small arms and dropping bombs using drones from the south, southeast and north of Thalaebar Village. In response, the security personnel systematically engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat towards Thayetcho Village, located approximately seven miles northeast of Thalaebar Village, by 08:05 PM.
       The terrorists also threw a grenade at the “Inn kyaung” monastery building located beside their retreat route, to prevent pursue attack on them by the security personnel members. The grenade landed and exploded in the building. As a result of the explosion, the abbot U Sarana (76 years old and 17 years being as a monk) was killed from bomb shrapnel injuries to his neck and chest, while the novice Shin Name Mala (12 years old and two years being as monk) and the factotum of the monastery Mg Haling Bwar Aung (10 years old), who all were present in the monastery building, sustained injuries from bomb shrapnel. The security personnel provided necessary medical care to injured individuals.
       Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against terrorists, who committed terrorist acts, resulting in the death and injury of a Buddhist monk, a novice and a factotum of the monastery, as soonest in accordance with the law and carrying out Counter-Terrorism Operation for regional stability and peace in accordance with security measures, it is reported.
