Political extremist terrorists and armed insurgents have been carrying out acts of sabotage, such as detonating mines and setting fire to power plants, substations and electrical towers, intending to disrupt electricity in the region.
In this regard, on 19 May, 2024 at 7:45 AM, the so-called PDF terrorists detonated Electric Towers No. 66 and 70, which supplied electricity from the Tha Phan Seik Power Plant, located near Ngat Pyaw Taw Village, Kyunhla Township, Sagaing Region, to the power substations of Kanbalu Township and Kyunhla Township. As a result, the towers collapsed and were damaged, causing a cutoff in electricity transmission, it is reported.
It has been reported that responsible officials are swiftly repairing the damaged electric towers. Meanwhile, security personnel are conducting further investigation to take action against the perpetrators of the terrorist act, while also implementing secrurity measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
