In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instil fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
In this regard, security personnel received a report stating that a male was shot dead on 15 June, 2024 at 2:00 PM, near Nyaung Wun village in Pauk Khaung Township of Bago Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victim was identified as U Bo Win (aka) U Sein Bo Win (55 years old) carpenter from the village and also found out that while the victim was doing his work at the house of Daw Mi Mi Kyaw (35 years old) in the same village, 10 so-called PDF-terrorists (under scrutiny) arrived and shot him. As a result, he was killed on the spot with gunshot injuries.
Similarly, security personnel received a report stating that a man and a woman were shot dead at 2:55 PM on the same day near Kyauk Twin village in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victims were identified as U Sein Myint Aung (56 years old), a hundred-house elder and his wife, Daw Fawt (aka) Daw Tin San (55 years old) from Thayatkan (South) village. It was also discovered that the couple left home for Mahlaing town for shopping with a motorbike and when they arrived at the crossroad near Kyauk Twin village, a so-called PDF group waiting there shot them dead and also took their belongings, a backpack with Kyat 150,000 in cash and two mobile phones.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians in the cases mentioned above, it is reported.
