In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 11 December at 04:30 PM, a so-called PDF terrorists (total number-under scrutiny) launched an attack using heavy weaponry from a location approximately three miles west of Chaunggyi Village of Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region. A heavy weapon shell landed and exploded near Chaunggyi creek in close proximity to the Village. As a result, U Myint Oo (53 years old), who lived in Chaunggyi Village, was dead from heavy weapon shell shrapnel. Additionally, U Moe Moe San (30 years old) and Ma Thal Nu Wai (23 years old), sustained injuries from heavy weapon shell shrapnel and were transported a military hospital for medical treatment. All individuals were present and working at the location during the incident, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against terrorists who attacked with heavy weapon, causing innocent civilians to dead and to sustain injuries, as soonest in accordance with the law and to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
