Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities-including abducting and extorting money from civil servants' families and local civilians, as well as killings.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 19 March 2025 at 10:30 AM, Daw Nyin Nyin Aye (56 years old), was abducted by a so-called PDF terrorist group while travelling by car from Myingyan Town to Mandalay City. She is a resident of Myingyan Town and mother of Police Second Lieutenant Nyein Chan Oo, who is serving at the Yadanabon checkpoint in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region and is also in charge of the Cotton Mill of Ministry of Industry (1). Acting on the information, security personnel took prompt measures to locate and rescue the abducted victim.
On 26 March 2025 at 11:00 AM, Daw Nyin Nyin Aye was released. According to Daw Nyin Nyin Aye, on 16 March 2025, she travelled by car from Myingyan to Mandalay to visit her son, Police Second Lieutenant Nyein Chan Oo, who was stationed at the Amarapura Township Police Station. While travelling along the Myingyan-Mandalay Road, her vehicle was stopped and searched by so-called PDF terrorists. Upon finding office documents in her luggage, they arrested her on the spot.
The terrorists blindfolded Daw Nyin Nyin Aye and transported her by motorbike along jungle paths. After approximately 15 minutes, she was taken to an underground bunker at a terrorist camp, where she was shackled. Subsequently, the leader of the so-called PDF terrorist group, known as Ko Htet, demanded a ransom of MMK 300 million for her release. When Daw Nyin Nyin Aye explained that she was unable to pay the amount, Ko Htet physically assaulted and tortured her. The terrorists also forcely took her possession of one gold necklace, one gold ring, one gold hairpin, one blue colored Redmi-brand mobile phone, one black colored Redmi-brand mobile phone, MMK 290,000 in cash, MMK 120,000 from her KPay account. Daw Nyin Nyin Aye was held captive at the camp for about 10 days.
On 26 March 2025 at 7:00 AM, a member of the terrorist group blindfolded and transported her by motorbike back to the Myingyan-Mandalay Road. She was then placed on a 'Shwe Myanmar' passenger bus which is running the Myingyan-Pakokku-Mandalay route, leading to her eventual release and return to freedom, it is reported.
Regarding the above incident, security personnel are continuing necessary operations in accordance with standard procedures to identify, apprehend, and take action against the terrorists involved, it is reported.
