With the intent to cause injuries to both peaceable civilians and administrative authorities who are striving to restore the rule of law, terrorists of extremism provide financial assistance and instigate destructive activities, such as detonating explosive devices and remote blasting, against public roads, railways, government offices and houses.
In this regard, on 15 May, 2024 at 11:30 AM, acting on information stating that an explosion had occurred in Saw Phyar Village, Thayetchaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, security personnel promptly reached the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The investigation revealed that U Khin Maung Htay (53 years old), a resident of the village, accidently stepped on an explosive device planted by a so-called PDF terrorist group, while he was cleaning bushes and grass around his house, causing it to explode. The explosion caused U Khin Maung Htay to sustain shrapnel injuries. He was transported to Dawei District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 8:20 PM, acting on information stating that an explosion had occurred at the No. (4) Ward Administrator’s Office in Labutta Township, Ayeyarwady Region, security personnel promptly reached the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The investigation revealed that two terrorists arrived by motorcycle at the office, threw an explosive device inside, and then fled. The explosion caused U Kyaw Yin (78 years old), a resident of No. (10) Ward and Ko San Win (aka) Barbu (17 years old), a resident of No. (4) Ward, who were both in the office at the time, with shrapnel injuries. They were transported to the Public Hospital in Labutta Town for medical treatment, it is reported.
It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident in order to take effective action in accordance with the law.
