In order to cause injuries to both peaceable individuals and administrative authorities who are working to restore the rule of law, extreme terrorists provide financial assistance and instigate destructive activities, such as detonating explosive devices and remote blasting, against public roads, streets, railways, departmental offices, and residential houses.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 31 August at 01:30 PM, according to the report that an explosion occurred at the office of the Public Health and Medical Services Department of Mandalay Region located on 70th Road between 27th and 28th Streets in Patkonewunkyin Ward of Chanayetharzan Township, Mandalay Region, security personnel went to the scene and conducted an inspection. According to the investigation, it is found that two male terrorists (under scrutiny) arrived on a motorcycle and entered the office. Subsequently, they threw two grenades inside the office before fleeing. The grenades fell and exploded at the foot of the stairway on the first floor and in the Assistant Director’s Office. As a result of the explosions, office staff members including Assistant Director Daw Sein Lae Lae, 55 years old, lower clerk Daw Aye Aye New, 58 years old, lower clerk Daw Yu Swe Win, 21 years old, two office helpers; Daw Win Khine, 49 years old and Daw Sein Htay, 59 years old along with part-time employee Daw Kay Thwel Moe, 20 years old, sustained injuries from bomb shrapnel and were transported to the Mandalay Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the perpetrators of the acts of terrorism from the above incident in order to be able to take effective action in accordance with laws.
