Roads/bridges are being constructed as basic infrastructure for the development of socio-economic life in the region and to facilitate convenient and swift transportation for the people. Armed insurgents who support terrorism and the so-called PDF terrorists, who oppose peace and development in the country, have been carrying out reckless acts by blowing up and destroying roads/ bridges with homemade mines and homemade bombs.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 18 June at 01:30 PM, so-called PDF terrorists blew up the No. (3/296) Konegyar Bridge (locally knowm as Kyone Bridge) located between mileposts 295/4 and 295/5 on the Pathein-Monywa Road, which is situated approximately one mile north of Konegyar Village in Salin Township, Magway Region. As a result of the explosion, approximately six feet of the Konegyar Village’s side being severely affected. Currentely, the bridge, measuring approximately 130 feet in length and approximately 18 feet in width, is impassable for both pedestrians and vehicles, it is reported.
Responsible officials are now repairing the damaged bridge so that it can be used by the public soon, and security force members are continue taking necessary measures to take punitive legal actions against the terrorists who blew up the public bridge as soonest in accordance with the law, it is reported.
