Two innocent civilians, including a child, were killed and a living house was damaged in a wanton attack with homemade mortars carried out by KIA armed insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists onto a Ward where civilians reside

     In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 14 November at 02:00 AM, KIA armed insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists attacked with homemade mortars onto Wards of Kathar Township, Sagaing Region. The homemade mortar shells landed and exploded within Zayarchaung Ward. As a result of the explosion, Daw Khin San Yi (66 years old) and her granddaughter Ma Myat Thiri Mon (13 years old), who both live in this Ward, were dead from mortar shell shrapnel. Additionally, Daw Khin San Yi’s house was damaged, it is reported.
     Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against terrorists who wantonly attacked with homemade mortars, resulting in the deaths of two innocent civilians and damage to a living house, as soonest in accordance with the law and to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
