In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars, and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 9 May, 2024 at 8:00 PM, a report stated that two men with bomb shrapnel injuries arrived at Pyin Oo Lwin District Public Hospital in No. (5) Ward, Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly reached the hospital and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that the victims are Ko Kyaw Ye Min (22 years old) and Ko Paw Tun (25 years old), both residents of Zar Li Village, Naunghkio Township, Northern Shan State. They were working in a sugarcane field located four furlongs north of their village when a heavy weapon shell, fired by a terrorist group, exploded near them. As a result, they sustained injuries from the shrapnel of the heavy weapon shell, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting an investigation into the incident involving attacks with heavy weapon which resulted in the described previously injuries. The aim of this investigation is to take punitive action against the terrorists involved. This action is in accordance with the law and is geared towards upholding stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
