In states and regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars, and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 15 December at 12:00 PM, a report stated that individuals injured by bomb shrapnel had arrived at Mandalay Public Hospital. Security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital and conducted an inspection. During the inspection, it was found that U Kyaing (65 years old) sustained injuries from bomb shrapnel to his left temple and left hand, while his wife, Daw Khin Nwet Yi (64 years old) also sustained injuries from bomb shrapnel to her abdomen, left and right calf. Both individuals reside in South Ward of Myaung Town, Sagaing Region. The incident was verified that while they were inside their house; a mortar shell, fired by so-called PDF terrorists, exploded near their house, resulting in the injuries mentioned above, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against terrorists who launched a mortar shell attack, causing innocent civilians to sustain injuries, as soonest in accordance with the law and to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
