In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 9 May 2025 at 9:00 AM, Kyat Khat Tan Village Administrator U Aye Cho (60 years old) a resident of Thal Kone Ward in Gyobingauk Township of Bago Region, was at a shop in Ohn Taw Village when two so-called PDF terrorists arriving by a motorcycle and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Aye Cho sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Gyobingauk Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
