In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informant or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 7 May 2025 at 7:30 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Than Ba Yar Village in Kamma Township of Magway Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene to conduct further investigation, the victim was identified as Village Tract Administrator, U Thiha Zaw (37 years old), a resident of the village. He was at his house when approximately 10 so-called PDF terrorists arriving by eight motorcycles and abducted him. The terrorists then took him to a location along the Kamma-Kyauk Saung-Kyee Mee-Kyauk Pa Daung Road, approximately one furlong west of the village, where they opened fire on U Thiha Zaw. As a result, U Thiha Zaw died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
